About
Hand Tied Hair Extensions by Tracy
After graduating from the University of Connecticut’s Business School in 2008 and falling into Corporate America, it only took Tracy a year and a half to realize she was not fulfilling her passion in her career. She always had the desire to become a Hairstylist, but was under the impression that college was the only way to go. Happiness in her career was her priority, so she decided to follow her real dream of doing what she loves and almost immediately decided to enroll in Cosmetology School at The European Academy of Cosmetology & Hairdressing in Guilford, Connecticut. The foundation of her education was a very systematic approach through TIGI and Tony & Guy principles. Tracy landed a rigorous training program a month after graduating in April 2011 at an Intercoiffure salon in Madison, Connecticut where she built a loyal clientele of over 6 years as a Stylist.
In May of 2017, Tracy was ready to take her career to the next level by becoming independent and running her own business behind the chair. “Hair by Tracy Lynn” was her startup business name, which is the “HTL” in HTL Styling. This is where she began to expand her focus to hair extension services by creating jaw-dropping transformations for her clients with thinning hair and truly tapping into her enthusiasm as a Stylist. Wearing hair extensions herself for 10+ years, this couldn’t have been more exciting for her, to be able to finally be the one to give someone the hair they could never grow on their own.
Tracy is continually advancing her education and credentials to be able to offer coloring and extension methods that are trending and most importantly, safe. She was part of a year-long Mastermind program for Natural Beaded Rows hair extensions in 2018 and has obtained her Level 3 Certification to become as well-trained in the method as possible. With weekly online training and multiple flights out to California for continued support with NBR coaches as well as the creator herself, Danielle K. White, Tracy’s clients can rest assured they are in good hands. She is now also certified in SKW™ extensions, created by Sarah K. Wilks, which is an alternate hand-tied extension method. Tracy believes in versatility and that one size does not fit all, so offering another method of hair extensions using hand-tied hair has allowed her to be able to work with a broader range of hair types. Tracy exclusively works with hand-tied hair extension methods because of the minimal points of contact to the scalp, least damage, there is no tape or glue, and the hair extensions are virtually undetectable and most natural looking. Aside from hair extensions, Tracy specializes in dimensional color using a variety of techniques, including balayage, foilage, traditional foils and various hand-painting methods.
If you decide to sit in Tracy’s chair, you might find yourself laughing, talking about food, your pets, or your latest Netflix binge. You might even find yourself falling asleep while she’s doing your hair. A visit with Tracy is a time to relax, take in the good vibes, and fall in love with your hair again!
